Impact

Innovation impact.

Water scarcity is having a lack of water in your land. Our project can impact the Navajo tribes by helping discover ancient water systems and better understand their land and culture. The innovation is important because finding these systems helps the Navajo live in harmony with nature. This makes them feel more connected to the land and their culture.

So to fix this problem we came up with the Sustainable, Ancestral,Guidance,Engine, but for short S.A.G.E. This engine is a data base that collects information from different type of sensors and drones that help find ancient water systems. S.A.G.E helps archaeologists to check out areas with little or no water in dry places so they don’t dig in areas without water causing damage to that area. By using sensors and drone footage, S.A.G.E can uncover many secrets under the ground covered by earth and forgotten by history.

The article “Water Scarcity" states that , “ Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. However, freshwater—the stuff we drink, bathe in, irrigate our farm fields with is incredibly rare. Only 3% of the world’s water is fresh water, and two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use.”

This article shows that our innovation project can make a huge impact on places  that don't have that much water like the Navajo reservation.  Are Innovation projects can find ancient water sources like old water ways, canals, even water systems that are forgotten or lost in history. People are using much more water from the Rio Grande than they are supposed to—about half as much extra. The problem is getting worse. Approximately 30% to 40% of the 170,000+ residents on the Navajo Nation lack access to running water or a flush toilet.
